Researchers revealed in a presentation at ENDO 2022 that inactivated and mRNA Covid-19 vaccinations were safe for hypothyroidism patients. These vaccines showed no drastic variation in the functioning of the thyroid, nor did they enhance the possibilities of emergency hospitalization or severity of the diseases.

The trial analyzed an inactivated vaccine called CoronaVac (which is a dead version of the SARS-CoV-2 virus) and mRNA vaccine called Pfizer BioNTech (BNT162b2). 

The study analyzed Covid-19 vaccinated people, categorized into three groups: unvaccinated participants, those receiving CoronaVac vaccine, and those receiving mRNA vaccine in the 3rd group. All the 47,000 participants were diagnosed with hypothyroidism and availing levothyroxine medication. No change in the dosage of levothyroxine was observed among those who received either type of Covid-19 vaccine. (ETHealthWorld, June 13, 2022)
